Insurance claims from across America have revealed that, depending on which state an individual calls home, he or she is more likely to be injured in certain ways and in certain places.
To find this data, a healthcare data company called Amino took a peek at electronic insurance claim trends for each state in the United States. The results showed an inordinate amount of a certain type of injury for each of these states.
Anything from motor vehicle accidents to back injuries was fair game, and injury numbers were compared with both the state’s average and the national average as a whole. The findings are quite interesting.
As you would believe, many states’ most common cause of injury was motor vehicle accidents, but there are a few that are surprising.
For example, Massachusetts sees a much higher percentage of concussions than almost anywhere else in the nation. Likewise, states falling within the Rocky Mountain range see mostly suffocation-related injuries, and Texas residents are most commonly injured by insect bites.
As for the state of Florida, unspecified head injuries have been shown to be the most common injury. While this could include anything from skull fractures and scalp wounds, the results could be as minor as stitches or as severe as a traumatic brain injury.
